Rotary D9210 (which consists of Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi and Northern Mozambique) will be hosting their first ever Projects Fair dubbed “Samfya 2021 – The Rotary Business and Projects Fair”. The hybrid event is scheduled from 28 – 30 October 2021 in Samfya, Zambia.
Getting involved in international service can often be a challenge, especially during a pandemic when international travel and general networking is limited. Project Fairs are a great opportunity to immerse into a new culture and make new friends while meeting project sponsors and funding international projects for Rotary clubs and districts to support. Given the challenges of hosting in-person events, this fair offers an opportunity to showcase completed projects, and also present project concepts for funding opportunities for clubs / projects that are interested in funding.
Through the Rotary network, there are opportunities to build sound international partnerships to work on service projects from outside of immediate communities. The fun thing is to take advantage of this pandemic that has so totally disrupted our lives, and turn it positively, this fair being online is open to the world, and we look forward to global participation.
The main categories of projects that will be looked at are:
- Global Grant Projects
- District Projects
- Club Projects
The Fair will also look at projects within the Rotary 7 Areas of Focus:
- Peace and conflict prevention/resolution.
- Disease prevention and treatment
- Water and sanitation.
- Maternal and child health.
- Basic education and literacy.
- Economic and community development
- The Environment.
